Article Submission Guidelines

Research Article Submissions

Articles forwarded to Zemin should be original and not previously disseminated in any form or language, nor should they be under consideration by another publication. Authors must confirm in their cover letters that their submissions are original and not under review elsewhere. Additionally, authors are required to disclose any prior presentations of the research findings or data at scholarly gatherings. The scientific and legal responsibility for the opinions expressed in the published articles lies with the authors.

Confidentiality: Submissions to Zemin are treated as confidential. Access is restricted to individuals directly involved in the editorial process, including staff, referees, and editors. To ensure impartiality, editors who are also authors will have restricted system access. The identity of both referees and authors remains confidential throughout the review process.

Article Requirements: Except for certain types like bibliographies and primary text publications, all articles should range from 5,000 to 12,000 words. Submissions must begin with an abstract in both Turkish and English (300-500 words), accompanied by 3-5 keywords in each language.

Formatting Guidelines: Submissions should be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file formats. The text must be single-spaced and use a 12-point font. Use italics for emphasis instead of underlining (except for URLs). All figures, images, and tables should be embedded within the text at appropriate points, not placed at the end. Please do not include page numbers in your submission. Adhere to the spelling conventions of the Turkish Language Association for Turkish and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary for English. Deviations from these conventions are allowed if they are justified and consistently applied. The editorial board reserves the right to standardize spelling to ensure consistency across publications.

Other Submissions

Zemin also publishes Book reviews and research notes and documents. These manuscripts bypass the referee process but undergo evaluation by the relevant area editors and the editorial board.

Book reviews: Zemin publishes reviews on works related to literature, language, culture, literary history, and interdisciplinary works on related fields. The content, scope, thesis, and contributions to the literature of the reviewed work should be specified. Considerations should be made for the target readership of the work, the methodology used by the author, and the unique contributions to the field. While evaluating the positive contributions as well as the deficiencies and weaknesses of the work, critiques should focus on the work – not the author – and be guided by future research.

Book review articles should not exceed 5,000 words and must adhere to the journal’s writing and citation rules.

Research notes: Research notes related to the journal’s field can be submitted to Zemin. Research notes are new findings that supplement previously published work, unresolved questions encountered during research, findings that cannot be included in the research but can be used in other studies, and observations that are important to announce immediately in ongoing research and can later be transformed into articles. Articles that present any problem without solving it and seek answers are also accepted as research notes.

All responses that can contribute to published research notes should be sent as a "letter to the editor."

Research notes should not exceed 5,000 words and must comply with the journal’s writing and citation rules.

Documents: Document publication type articles (such as archive documents, letters, posters) can be submitted to Zemin. These articles should include a full transcription of the document in Unicode fonts along with an evaluative section that explains the unique contribution of the document to the field within an academic and ethical framework.

A high-resolution image of the document to be published should also be attached to the article.
